The imperfect ending - Goong
I was disappointed with the last few books of the manga Goong series. Because it seems to me that their love wasn't really truly genuine as they claimed. If they truly loved each other why would they let go each other's hands so many times after going through so much hardship while no one else was there opposed them anymore. The king and queen and even the parents-in-laws approved in the end. Yet they chose to let go easily despite that it hinted that they got back together in the end.
I feel as if I was played like a fool who faithfully read until the end but found nothing there. This story should have ended way before their divorce and multiple breakups. My heart broke for them each time they tried hard to forget about each other and seeing them getting back together after each breakup really kept my hopes up and believed that they would eventually cherish and finally marry again.
The whole story plummeted when the princess still wanted to leave after consummating outside of wedlock. It made the whole love story cheap like a novela. It made the relationship seem like a codependent affair that they were merely addicted to each other. It was all in the name of love when they let go of each other the first few times. But it started to get boring and stale in the end and I kept hoping that they wouldn't mess it up again after each reconciliation.
I have learned that in the end what stopped them from being together was't the royal family, parents-in-laws or the second prince but their lack of trust, communication and devotion. If they truly love each other, then they would have stuck together no matter what hardships they were going through.
Indeed, the story should have ended when they declared their love for each other when they were still married. And it would have been a perfection. However, the imperfect ending just reminds me that real life isn't perfect. And no matter how much I wanted the story to be perfect like I wanted, it just couldn't happen. And it is exactly what I need now to bring me back to reality from this venture of fantasy.
It has been great that this series aroused the longing for love in my heart that made me to start writtng more. And the imperfect ending is also neccesary to wake me up from the dream.
